What AEO and GEO actually mean.

What is answer engine optimisation?

Answer engine optimisation, or AEO, is the work of getting your brand named and cited inside AI-generated answers. It aims at the answer itself rather than a list of links, so success means being a source the engine reaches for when a buyer asks a question.

Is generative engine optimisation the same thing?

Generative engine optimisation, or GEO, is the same discipline under a newer name, and some teams call it AI SEO. Whichever label you use, the job is identical: measure how the engines answer your buyers, then change what those engines find when they look.

How is this different from SEO?

SEO earns a place in a list of links. AEO earns a mention inside the answer. The habits overlap, because clear pages and credible sources help both, but an AI answer names two or three brands rather than ten, so ranking on page one no longer means you are seen.

What is AI search visibility?

AI search visibility is the share of your tracked questions where an engine names your brand. Answyn measures it every day, alongside how early you appear, how you compare with the competitors it detects, whether you are recommended or merely listed, and how often the cited sources are your own.

Five numbers that show where you stand.

It gets more useful the longer you run it.

Every answer is kept and dated, so you can see whether a change actually stuck, which competitor is gaining on you, and how the language around your brand shifts. Pro keeps 3 months of history. Business keeps 12 months of history.

One platform, nine places to work.

Every gap comes with a way to close it.

  1. 01

    Find the gap

We show you the questions where you are missing entirely, where a competitor leads, or where someone else earns the citation.

  2. 02

    Weigh it up

Each gap is sized on how many answers it affects against how much work it needs, so the loudest one does not automatically win.

  3. 03

    Get the brief

You get the page to write, how to structure it, the proof points to include, and where to put it once it is live.

An illustrative content opportunity and the action brief produced from it.

Notion vs Confluence for a product wiki

Current answers name Confluence and Coda as the options. The brief turns that evidence into a page a writer can produce.

  1. 01

    Lead with the direct answer

Name the three use cases in the opening sentences so the answer is easy to extract.

  2. 02

    State who it is for

Be explicit about the right customer and where another option is a better fit.

  3. 03

    Compare the alternatives

Use the brands already appearing in answers and make the distinction evidence-led.

Set it up once. Read it every morning.

  1. 01

    Add your questions

Put in the questions your buyers actually ask. Paste a batch in at the start, or add them one at a time as you learn what matters.

What is the best all-in-one workspace app for a small team?

There are a few strong options depending on how your team works. Notion is the most flexible of the group and the one many teams settle on. ClickUp is powerful, though users often find it heavy for simple work. Obsidian is worth considering when control and extensibility matter most.

Questions we get asked.

How does Answyn collect its answers?

Answyn puts your questions to each engine on your plan, using the same wording on the same schedule. Every answer is kept with its sources and its analysis attached, so you can open the evidence behind any number instead of taking the number on trust.

Which engines does Answyn track?

Answyn tracks Gemini, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Google AI Mode. Custom plans can also cover Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and Claude. Every engine is asked the same questions in the same words, so when a figure moves it reflects a change in the answers rather than a change in the test.

How quickly will I see something useful?

The first answers come back as soon as you add your questions. A single day shows you where you stand. A fortnight shows which way you are moving, which competitor is gaining ground, and which gap is worth your team's time this week.

Do I need a developer to set it up?

No. Adding questions means typing them in, and every brief is written for a person to act on rather than a specification to implement. The one optional technical step is a small script for LLM Analytics, which reports the AI crawlers reading your site and the visitors an answer sends you.

What does Pages show?

Pages starts from your own site rather than from the answers. It lists every URL you publish, then shows what each one earns: citations from the engines, AI crawler fetches, and clicks, impressions, and average position from Google Search Console. The list most teams open first is the pages earning nothing.

What is a pitch workspace?

A pitch workspace is a prospect workspace that sits outside the brand cap. Pro includes 2 pitch workspaces a month. Business includes 10. Each pitch tracks up to 25 prompts on its own allowance, on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. You choose a one-off visibility snapshot or 7-day daily tracking, and you can switch later if you change your mind. Convert the pitch to a brand when you win the work.

What is the Answyn MCP?

The Answyn MCP is a read-only connection that lets Claude or ChatGPT ask the same visibility figures Wyn uses, for one brand at a time. You add the server from MCP in the profile panel, sign in, and ask in that chat. It is included on Business and Custom.

What is the Answyn API?

The Answyn API is a read-only HTTPS connection for scheduled jobs that read many brands in one process. You issue a key from API in Organisation Settings, check the returned domain before you store a project id, then pull a snapshot each night. It is included on Custom. Claude and ChatGPT still use the Answyn MCP.

Does Answyn replace our SEO work?

No, Answyn sits beside it. Most of what earns a citation also helps you rank: clear answers, credible sources, and pages that are easy to parse. What Answyn adds is which questions to write for, and why, drawn from answers the engines have already given.

What does Answyn cost?

Pro and Business start online in a few minutes. Custom is priced around the markets, volumes and engines you need. Every plan includes daily collection and the full evidence behind every number, not a sampled or estimated version of it.
